Kerolin departs WSL champions Man City in record move to Barcelona

In January 2025, Manchester City fans were excited by the arrival of Brazil international forward Kerolin. After 18 months, she’s saying goodbye to the club with a record transfer to Spanish giants Barcelona on a four-year deal.

The 26-year-old joined Man City from North Carolina Courage in January 2025.

During her time with City, she won two major trophies last season — the Women’s Super League title, and the FA Cup. She also scored nine goals and bagged 15 assists during her time in the WSL.

Kerolin is also a key figure for Brazil. On the international stage, she’s scored 15 goals in 62 appearances for her country. With the World Cup taking place in her native country next year, she’ll be a key player for the home nation.

A record transfer fee for former Man City star Kerolin

Reports claim that City have received around £1.25 million from Barcelona for the forward, making it the largest sale by a club in the WSL. In terms of a transfer fee received by an English club, Kerolin’s price tag also eclipses the £1 million Liverpool received from Arsenal for Olivia Smith in 2025, and the recent £850,000 move from Manchester United to Chelsea for Melvine Malard.

Barcelona have had some huge players exit the club recently with the likes of Salma Paralluelo, Ona Batlle, and most notably two-time Ballon d’Or award winner Alexia Putellas, who made the eye-popping move to London City Lionesses.

Barca have now strengthened their attack with Kerolin joining the squad.

What Kerolin brings to Barcelona

Kerolin will bring a lot of flexibility in attacking options to the Barcelona squad. She’s comfortable playing on either wing, or through the middle.

Her impressive pace will also bring extra quality to the Barcelona side. She has the versatility to fulfil several attacking roles, which will help Barcelona when competing on all fronts in domestic and European levels.

She also brings significant experience, having competed in the Liga F with Madrid CFF, the NWSL with Carolina Courage, and the WSL with Manchester City. Alongside that is her international experience.
