Joao Pedro has described Cole Palmer as a “special” player and stated he loves playing with the England international.

The Brazilian scored his first Chelsea hat-trick in Wednesday’s 4-1 win against Aston Villa, taking his tally to 14 Premier League goals.

Pedro needs six goals in the last nine games of the season to become the first Chelsea striker since Diego Costa to score 20 league goals in a single campaign.

The 24-year-old has been in scintillating form since Liam Rosenior arrived, and it’s clear he’s thriving under the 41-year-old.

Pedro looks a proper all round centre forward, and no player has scored more league goals than the Brazil international in 2026.

One prospect that is exciting Chelsea fans is the blossoming partnership between Pedro and Palmer, with both amongst the goals on Wednesday evening.

Palmer has previously spoken about how he loves playing with Pedro, and the former Brighton man has described his team-mate as a special player.

“Palmer is a special player, and since I joined he has always tried to be around and help me,” he told BBC Sport.

“I love playing with him.”

Emmanuel Emegha arriving in the summer

Whilst Pedro has solidified his status as Chelsea’s first choice striker, more competition is set to arrive in the summer.

Emmanuel Emegha will join from Strasbourg, and the Dutch international has signed a seven year contract at Stamford Bridge.

Emegha knows Liam Rosenior well having played under the Englishman for 18 months in France, and he scored 14 goals in Ligue 1 last season.

He’s set to go straight into the first team squad and compete for minutes next season, and it’ll be interesting to see what impact he has, and how long it takes him to adapt.
