Chelsea began the summer with an immense longlist of players they needed to move on, and they ended up doing a great job.
Of the original ten they wanted to sell or loan, just two remain at Cobham now. Raheem Sterling (who has proved impossible to shift because of his immense wages) and Axel Disasi.

Disasi should have been far easier to deal with than Sterling. For one thing he’s on a much lower salary. For another, he had a solid season at Chelsea the year before and then was decent on loan to Aston Villa after January.
What’s more, unlike in some cases, Chelsea could consider a loan. Disasi still has plenty of contract left and Chelsea can afford to let him go for a year if it improves his value. But in the end, despite interest from the Premier League and France, nothing happened.
Now Disasi is still stuck, with only Saudi interest left.
This week he spoke to Get French Football News where he explained just what
“In the period between the approaches from Bournemouth and West Ham, Monaco arrived and that hit me emotionally,” the defender said.
“I had three incredible years at Monaco. When they came in, all the memories came back. Monaco is home. I hoped that Chelsea would find a solution to allow me to leave on loan. I pushed until the last minute to go to Monaco.”
It sounds like his old team simply can’t offer enough to make Chelsea consider a sale or loan. Let’s hope a solution is found in January – this is not a good situation for the club or the player to continue in.
