Angers SCO Sporting Director Laurent Boissier thinks that striker Sidiki Chérif (19) will remain with Les Scoïstes beyond the winter transfer window. The 19-year-old’s eye-catching performances under the tutelage of Alexandre Dujeux have not gone unnoticed in Ligue 1 and abroad. According to Ouest-France, Angers have turned down two bids for Chérif, one from Paris FC and the other from Crystal Palace, with whom the player already has an agreement on personal terms.
Boissier says that time is running out for Angers to find a suitable replacement if Chérif were to leave. “I think and hope that Sidiki will stay. It’s January 23, the timing is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain, and the options I looked for to replace him are dwindling.”
Angers face Paris FC away this Sunday for an important game in the race to reach safety in Ligue 1, and Chérif is expected to take part. But will he see out the season with Angers? “I want our team to finish the season well and my coach to be happy. I don’t think Alex – Dujeux – will agree to go through the rest of the season without a striker.“
