“I think I’ll manage Inter one day”: Diego Simeone

Article image:“I think I’ll manage Inter one day”: Diego Simeone

Ahead of the big Champions League game between Inter and Atletico Madrid, Diego Simeone has stated that he would one day like to manage the Nerrazzuri. This comes as somewhat of a surprise as the Argentine has never managed any club in Europe other than Atletico, who he has been in charge of since December of 2011.

Under Simeone, Atletico has had one of their best spells in history. Simeone himself has cemented a status as one of the best managers of the current era and has become the highest paid manager in the world. With the game against his former side next up, Simeone said, “It doesn’t depend on just me, but in my coaching career I can imagine myself managing Inter one day. I think it will happen one day”.

During his playing career, in 1997, Simeone went to Serie A to join Inter Milan, where he stayed for two complete seasons and helped the team win the 1997–98 UEFA Cup in a side whose squad’s attack was notably led by Ronaldo Nazario. Simeone style of management would suit this current Inter side very well and it remains to be seen if a move could come any time soon.
