The Blues returned to winning ways with a 1-0 win against Leeds in the FA Cup semi final at Wembley, but are in desperate need of three points in the league.
Chelsea have lost their last five league games without scoring, and currently sit eighth, ten points adrift of Aston Villa in the final Champions League place.
Interim head coach Calum McFarlane will take charge of his first game at Stamford Bridge, with Forest also in need of points to guarantee their survival.
Chelsea have been handed a boost with Reece James and Levi Colwill both back in full training, and they could be part of the squad for the game.
With just four games remaining the pressure is on, and the Blues have won just six league games at home this season.
Forest may have half an eye on the second leg of their Europe League semi final against Villa next week, and Merson has given his prediction.
“Chelsea reached the FA Cup final last weekend,” he told Sportskeeda.
“If they go on and win that trophy, which is a big, massive ask, I think it counts as a huge achievement this season.
“If Villa finish fifth and win the Europa League, which is likely, Chelsea can still play Champions League football because they are only two points behind Brighton in sixth-place.
“Morgan Gibbs-White has been in stunning form. I don’t think he gets a call-up to the England squad for the World Cup though.
“The audition window has run out now. I don’t think Forest will be relegated, but I think they will lose this game.
“Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Nottingham Forest.”

Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs to have made an enquiry for Brentford striker Igor Thiago, with the Bees expected to set their asking price at around £80m.

Thiago has scored 21 goals in the league this season, second to only Erling Haaland, and Brentford could face a tough task keeping hold of the Brazilian in the summer.
