‘I will be very patient’ – Carlo Ancelotti defends Real Madrid star | OneFootball

Brazil national team head coach Carlo Ancelotti has on Tuesday moved to throw his full backing behind Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr.

This comes amid what has been a difficult recent stretch for the 26-year-old on the pitch.

Vinícius has come in for heavy criticism over the early weeks of the new campaign, on the part of the Real Madrid faithful, the media, and neutrals alike.

Rewarded with a new big-money contract in Spain’s capital over the summer, the gifted winger has since failed to showcase precisely why Florentino Pérez and co. were willing to commit to such a significant financial sacrifice.

Off the pace, lacking in one-on-one situations and wasteful in front of goal, Vinícius has found the net just once in eight appearances between La Liga and the Champions League.

Drawn on the name of his attacking star after Vinícius rounded out the scoring in Brazil’s friendly victory over Australia on Tuesday, though, the aforementioned Carlo Ancelotti was quick to defend his former Real Madrid prodigy.

Adamant that Vinícius remains a central figure in his plans, Brazil’s headmaster explained:

“Vini Jr deserves my patience. I know Vini very well. He’s an important player for Brazil and he will continue to be in the future.

“Even when Vini isn’t it in his best moment, he can still make the difference like he did today. Personally, I will be very patient, because he deserves this patience.”
