Manuel Locatelli has broken his silence after undergoing knee surgery that is expected to keep him out of action for Juventus for up to six months.
The midfielder played in Juventus’ last match against AC Milan and did not appear to suffer any serious injury during the game. However, he was uncomfortable after the match, and further tests revealed that he had suffered a knee injury.
Juve wasted no time in ensuring that Locatelli underwent surgery to correct the problem. He now faces a lengthy recovery period before he can return to training and eventually play for the team again.
Locatelli is Juventus’ captain and one of their most important players, regularly starting matches under Luciano Spalletti. His absence means the Bianconeri will be without one of the key pieces of the manager’s plans at the club.
The midfielder is also one of the players who is consistently available for selection, making the injury a significant blow for Juve. He is not accustomed to spending such a long period away from the pitch, making the situation even more difficult for the captain.
Locatelli has now reacted to the disappointing news and opened up about how difficult the situation has been for him. He said via Football Italia:
“I won’t lie, I won’t use cliches here, I am distraught. I finished the game the other night and never expected to be hit by all this the next morning.

“The operation went well, and that is very important. Now I will have to stop for a while, and it hurts knowing that I cannot help my teammates, that I won’t be able to fight for the Juventus shirt along with them.
“It will require patience, but I will work in every way possible to return stronger, as I always have done.”
Locatelli’s words underline the disappointment caused by an injury that arrived unexpectedly after the AC Milan match. The Juventus captain will now have to focus on his rehabilitation and work towards returning to the pitch.
For Juve, his absence leaves another important gap to address, with the Bianconeri now needing to cope without one of their most dependable midfielders for several months.
