The red card for Fofana was Chelsea’s ninth of the season, if you include Enzo Maresca receiving his marching orders.

Chelsea have six red cards in the league this season, and going down to ten men has cost them crucial points throughout the campaign.

Discipline was a problem under Maresca, and it’s clearly still an issue under Rosenior, and something he needs to get on top of quickly.

Rosenior refused to blame the dropped points against Burnley on Fofana, but maybe he needs to take a tougher approach to get through to the players.

Fofana was the latest Chelsea player to be sent off this season.

The Blues face a difficult trip to Arsenal on Sunday, and ahead of that game Allardyce has called on Rosenior to clamp down on Fofana and his team-mates.

“Chelsea should be there because they have got the strength and depth of the squad,” he told The No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast.

“But obviously they’ve got discipline problems. Fofana getting sent off and you know it’s you know this is where somewhere where as a manager I would clamp down I would, well before this weekend I’d have cut this out and said you know this is not, this is not acceptable.”

Discipline not the only problem for Chelsea

Whilst discipline needs to be sorted out, Chelsea also need to learn how to see games out from winning positions.

The Blues have now lost 19 points from winning positions this season, with only West Ham (20) losing more in the current campaign.

Chelsea have dropped 17 of those points at home, and if they want to qualify for the Champions League, that has to change very quickly.
