Iago Machado monitored by European giants as Corinthians set €100m overseas clause | OneFootball

Iago Machado, 17, made his Corinthians debut in the 2-1 defeat to Flamengo on Sunday in the 27th round, reviving European interest in the centre-back.

According to Meu Timao, Chelsea and Arsenal have tracked him closely and sent scouts, while Corinthians had felt protected by the strength of his contract.

An addendum in October 2025 set a R$ 66 million domestic release clause, the highest among academy players, plus a €100 million clause for overseas clubs. The deal runs until 16 April 2028.

On debut he started alongside João Pedro Tchoca and posted 14 defensive actions, four duels won and one ball recovery, per Sofascore. He remains available and could be selected against Estudiantes on Wednesday in the Libertadores quarter-final second leg.

There is also an expectation he may return to the Under-20s for the Paulista run-in, while staying involved with the Under-17s in the decisive stage of their national campaign.
