Ian Cathro primed to guide Saint-Étienne with his method and ideas in Ligue 2

Ian Cathro, 40, the self-taught Scottish polyglot, is at Saint-Étienne after assistant spells across six clubs in four countries. Two stints as a head coach have sharpened his approach, and he is now beginning to apply it at the club ahead of their Ligue 2 opener.

According to L'Équipe, Saint-Étienne recruited him from Estoril in early June. His first competitive match in charge is at Sochaux on Saturday at 20:45, at Stade Bonal.
