The potential expansion of the Championship play-offs has 'widespread support' from clubs according to reports.

The EFL board have been considering the expansion of the play-offs from the teams that finish third until sixth to also include seventh and eighth – meaning had the rules been in effect last season Blackburn Rovers and Millwall would have have made the cut. Right now West Brom and Birmingham City sit in seventh and eight respectively.

According to Sky Sports, second-tier clubs are supporting the move that still needs to be approved by the FA and the Premier League.

Any potential adjustments would not come into effect until at least next season with this season already well underway.

As of yet there is no consensus on whether any new games would be integrated into League One or League Two.
