Igor Paixão has landed in France. The Brazilian left-winger is on the verge of his transfer to Marseille where he will be signing a record transfer. Hundreds of supporters awaited the 25-year-old, who joins from Feyenoord.
Spirits were high in Marseille, where swathes of local football fans awaited their record transfer. Paixão arrived in the city and was all smiles as he came to undergo his medical.
Paixão told local media, “I feel good, I’m very happy to be here. The atmosphere is fantastic, and that’s why I chose Marseille.”
Marseille have shelled out a record 30 million euros, plus an additional five million euros in bonuses. This will give Feyenoord a significant financial boost following the departure of their star player. In Rotterdam, Paixão helped Feyenoord win one Eredivisie title, a KNVB Cup, and the Johan Cruyff Shield. In that time, the Macapá-born talent scored a total of 39 goals and registered 23 assists in 129 games.
