Brentford are dreaming of European football next season under Keith Andrews, and have taken another step towards that aim, as they lead 2-1 against Everton.
The Bees, who have a chance at cracking the top six should they bank all three points against David Moyes' Toffees, broke the deadlock early through talisman Igor Thiago.
Now a full Brazilian international and on course to earn a place in Carlo Ancelotti's Seleção squad for the World Cup this summer, Thiago slammed home the opener from the spot in just the third minute after Dango Ouattara was brought down in the box by Jordan Pickford.
With that converted effort from 12 yards out, Thiago sealed his 20th goal of the season, the first Brazilian to ever do so, while also equalling Ivan Toney (2022-23) and Bryan Mbeumo (2024-25) for the joint-most goals by a Brentford player in a single Premier League campaign.
He would not be denied his historic moment on the day, with Thiago completing his brace in the later stages of the second half after an effort from Michael Kayode deflected off the big centre-forward and past Jordan Pickford.
Thiago, now the single-season record goalscorer for Brentford (21), is just one off Erling Haaland in the race for the Golden Boot.
