Brentford have secured the long-term services of Igor Thiago after the striker agreed a new contract running until the summer of 2031. The club also hold the option to extend the deal by a further year.
The Brazilian forward, who made the switch from Club Brugge in 2024, has become the focal point of Brentford’s attack this season. He has struck 17 Premier League goals so far - a tally surpassed only by Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.
With 12 fixtures still remaining, Thiago has already set a new benchmark for the most goals scored by a Brazilian in a single Premier League campaign. January saw him register his first hat-trick in England’s top flight, netting three times in a standout display against Everton.
The fresh terms underline Brentford’s faith in the 24-year-old, who has played a central role in the club’s impressive league campaign. Soon after committing his future, Thiago received further recognition when he was named Premier League Player of the Month for January.
It was the second time he had collected the accolade, having previously won it in November 2025, and it makes him the first Brazilian to claim the award more than once.
Thiago scored five league goals during the month to help keep Brentford’s unexpected push for a top-six finish on course, with important wins over Everton and Sunderland. He came out on top of an eight-man shortlist that featured Yasin Ayari, Patrick Dorgu, Enzo Fernández, Junior Kroupi, Crysencio Summerville, Harry Wilson and Florian Wirtz.
