‘I’ll run there’ – Habib Beye announces desire to manage Marseille | OneFootball

Habib Beye has led Red Star from the National 1 to Ligue 2. However, having brought the iconic Parisian team into France’s second tier, he announced his decision to leave the club at the end of the season.

Beye, who is also a consultant on Canal Plus, has told L’Équipe that he is “ready” to manage in Ligue 1. An opportunity may present itself. As reported by Ouest-France, Beye held talks with the hierarchy at Stade de Reims after Will Still’s shock departure last week. With Samba Diawara taking charge of Les Stadistes on an interim basis until the end of the season, they are taking their time to make a decision.

However, Beye has set his sights on one job in particular – the job at Olympique de Marseille. “If they show interest, I would go. It is the club that has brought me the most emotions since my childhood. If OM call, I’ll run there. I have no problem saying that,” the Red Star manager told L’Équipe.

The Marseille job will be available again this summer, as it was last summer and the summer before that. Jean-Louis Gasset replaced Gennaro Gattuso on an interim basis back in February but he has made it clear that he will not remain beyond his mandate. However, it seems that, to Beye’s disappointment, Lille OSC’s Paulo Fonseca is the clear front-runner to take over at the Vélodrome.
