Sacha Boey is sidelined with a severe gastrointestinal problem, and Bild claims Vincent Kompany had already been unhappy with the defenders readiness.

The report said an incident on November 8 against Union Berlin lingered. Kompany enforces a be ready rule, expecting players to have shinpads, boots and tape on when a change is called.

Boey was due to come on that night, but had not tied his boots or put in his shinpads, so Kompany cancelled the substitution.

After the match, Kompany spoke to Boey face to face and delivered a firm dressing down, preferring to avoid embarrassing a player in front of the team.

Even so, Boey has not been written off, and Kompany could still use him once he is fit.

The Bavarians face a shortage at full-back, with Konrad Laimer out with a recent calf injury and Josip Stanisic also sidelined for now.
