Cristiano Ronaldo bagged a brace, marked Saudi Arabia’s Founding Day celebrations by donning a traditional bisht, then confirmed his commitment to the Kingdom.

And, when Saturday night’s fixtures were done and dusted, his Al Nassr side were back top of the Roshn Saudi League. For the first time in 10 rounds.

“We created so many chances, in my opinion,” Ronaldo said following his side’s still-emphatic 4-0 victory at home to Al Hazem. "We should score more, but we won - that is the most important.

“Without conceding goals, again. I'm very happy with the result and, of course, for the goals.”

The goals, one in each half and both assisted by Kingsley Coman, helped Al Nassr ascend the summit once more. Coupled with Al Hilal’s draw in the Saudi Clasico with Al Ittihad, played across Riyadh at the same time, the capital club emerged from Matchweek 23 on pole to deliver a first top-flight crown in seven seasons.

A eighth successive RSL win - incredibly, they’ve not conceded once in their past six - means tables have turned. Now, it’s Al Nassr who lead the standings by one, from Al Hilal.

Al Ahli, meanwhile, are two back in third. Al Qadsiah, one place below, sit four off the table-toppers.

Gunning for a third golden boot on the bounce, Ronaldo’s double lifted his to 20 goals for the 2025-26 RSL. He’s now only one short of Julian Quinones, and three off frontrunner Ivan Toney.

Little wonder Ronaldo danced in front of the Al Awwal Park faithful at the conclusion, wearing proudly the bisht. Evidently, things are good.

“Yeah, I'm very happy,” he smiled. “As I say so many times, I belong to Saudi Arabia. It's a country that welcomed very well to me and my family and my friends. I'm happy here. I want to continue here.

“And the most important, it's we keep pushing. We are there in the top. Our job is to win, make pressure [on our title rivals], and let's see.

“We are on track. We’re back; we are good; we are confident. Game by game. We are in a good shape. Let's see what's going to happen.”
