Liam Delap scored his first Premier League goal for Chelsea last night, following on from an impressive second half cameo against Man City at the weekend.

There’s a – perhaps overly hopeful – sense that the striker is finding his feet at Chelsea now.

Liam Delap speaks to Chelsea TV.

“It’s been a difficult start for me with a few injuries and then it’s always difficult to get sharp and get going,” Delap said in quotes on the club’s official website.

“I’ve got to a period now where I’m starting to feel good, so hopefully that can carry on and continue until the end of the season.”

We’ve been making that excuse for him the whole time – he’s a physical player who hasn’t really been able to get up to speed because of injuries. We’re hopeful we now get to see him at his best. It would bring a much needed ray of light to the current gloomy situation at the club.

Delap will be hoping that Liam Rosenior, who managed him briefly when he was on loan at Hull, can be part of improving him:

“I know him really well and he’s a top manager so hopefully he can help the players and we can just start from that. I think he’s a really exciting young manager and he loves to play football.”

Delap also claimed that Chelsea deserved more from the game at Craven Cottage, given how well they managed with ten men, and given the Fulham goals came from “nowhere.”

Pedro Neto is not in a good run of form at the moment, and his struggles were made clear with one dreadful cross last night, which incoming manager Liam Rosenior was seen reacting to.
