Sevilla star Lucas Ocampos provided an honest insight into his disappointment, on the back of the club’s late collapse against Almería.
Quique’s Sevilla, of course, marked their return to action late on Monday night.
Rounding out the La Liga gameweek, the Nervionenses made the trip to the Power Horse Stadium, for a meeting with bottom of the table Almería.
And, with a full 94 minutes on the clock, the evening’s visitors looked set to emerge with all three points.
This came after Dodi Lukebakio’s leveller inside the closing ten minutes was soon added to by the aforementioned Lucas Ocampos.
Just when Almería appeared dead and buried, however, Marko Milovanović broke free in the Sevilla penalty area, to nod a fine finish into the bottom corner.
This proved the game’s defining moment, as Quique’s visitors were left to ponder what might have been.
Speaking to the media post-match, it therefore came as little surprise when Lucas Ocampos, despite his goal, struggled to hide his disappointment with the outcome at the Power Horse Stadium.
At least partly at fault for Almería’s equaliser after losing track of goalscorer Milovanović at the back post, the Argentine, though, was also adamant that he is ready to put in the necessary work to ‘improve those types of errors’ moving forward:
“I thought the two centre-backs were there,” Ocampos explained to Movistar, as cited by Marca. “It’s true that I should have closed a little more, and the striker put it inside the post. It’s annoying, we leave angry, but now we must have a reaction. The feeling was that we weren’t scoring and today we fought differently. The team is without extremes, the coach has his formation, I always try to contribute no matter where I’m put. There are days that go better, other days worse, but I will continue working to improve those types of errors.”
