Imps' home form driving League One promotion push

Lincoln City’s League One promotion push continues to gather momentum — and their home form is driving it. The Imps have collected more points on their own turf than any other League One side this season, their latest three arriving courtesy of last night’s 3–1 win over Barnsley.

Lincoln’s haul of 23 home points places them among the elite across The 92 this term. Only Coventry can match that total, with the Sky Blues’ 23-point return at the CBS Arena helping them top the Championship. Just behind Lincoln and Coventry, in this regard, are Watford and Bromley (22 home points), and Manchester City, Bolton, Cardiff and Cambridge (21 points apiece).

At the LNER Stadium last night, it was Reeco Hackett who took centre stage, striking twice as Michael Skubala’s side made it three straight league victories on their own patch. Hackett opened the scoring in the 36th minute, only for League One’s top marksman, Davis Keillor-Dunn, to turn in Jonathan Bland’s cross midway through the second half to level for the visitors.

But parity lasted only seconds. Tom Bayliss restored Lincoln’s lead directly from the restart before Hackett wrapped up the points three minutes later with a far-post header.

Lincoln have now lost just once at home in the league this season — to Exeter — and their formidable record in front of the Sincil Bank faithful is becoming central to their promotion credentials.
