In Cotia, under-17s draw in Campeonato Brasileiro opener

On Friday night (29), São Paulo FC’s U-17 team drew 1-1 with Athletico-PR at CFA Laudo Natel in their opening match of the Brazilian Championship in the category. São Paulo’s goal was scored by Nicolas Francisco.

The first dangerous chance came in the 14th minute. After a corner kick taken by Luan, Robert flicked a header on and the defense cleared it off the line. In the 28th minute, Kaio received the ball in midfield and passed to Zabarelli, who pushed forward down the wing. With a backheel, he laid it off to Caio, who tried to curl it into the top corner, but the ball hit the outside of the net. In the 29th minute, the visitors opened the scoring.

In the 33rd minute, Robert took a corner and Kauã Daniel got a touch, but the defense prevented the goal on the line. In the 39th minute, Robert chipped the defender and immediately set up Nicolas Francisco, who struck a beautiful volley and scored a stunning goal in Cotia.

The second half took a while to heat up. In the 26th minute, João Soato made a great save, stretching fully and tipping the ball away with his fingertips. In the 35th minute, Zabarelli backheeled it into Robert’s path, and the number 10 took a shot, but the goalkeeper saved it. On the rebound, Nicolas Francisco was alert, but the goalkeeper dove on the ball and held on.

The U-17s’ next match will be another Brazilian Championship game. They will face Corinthians next Monday (1) at 5:30 p.m. at Canindé, in São Paulo, in the second round of the competition.
