In interview, Corinthians boss praises striker: "He's a real class act"

The relationship between coach Dorival Júnior and the Dutch forward Memphis Depay was one of the topics in an interview published by the Gazeta Esportiva portal on the morning of this Tuesday (4). The black-and-white coach praised the number 10, emphasizing that the relationship with the player is “calm,” free from any off-field controversies.

“Very calm. Thank God, I have never had problems on a day-to-day basis with athletes in general, and it would be no different with Memphis. He is a well-mannered, polite guy, in addition to the technical ability he possesses”, stated Dorival, about Memphis, reinforcing that he has always maintained a good relationship with all athletes.

There have been no reports of conflicts between Memphis and Dorival since the coach took over Corinthians, earlier this year, with situations like missing a training session in July being handled internally. After a series of two injuries, the forward is regaining his playing time, scoring one of the goals in the victory over Grêmio this past weekend.

In total, in a year at Parque São Jorge, Memphis has accumulated 57 games, with 16 goals scored and 14 assists provided to teammates. His goal contributions helped Corinthians climb from the relegation zone to qualifying for this year's Copa Libertadores. This year, he also helped win the Campeonato Paulista and was decisive in eliminating Palmeiras in the Copa do Brasil by scoring the winning goal in the first leg of the round of 16.
