Iñaki Williams has been moved back to centre forward under Edin Terzic, putting him in direct competition with Gorka Guruzeta and Sannadi.

As reported by as.com, Terzic has not hidden his plans, starting the Ghana international at Balaídos against Celta, where he looked sharper inside than in recent outings on the right. The role is also better stocked than the flanks, with youngsters Hierro, Vizcay and Manex Lozano in the final stages of recovery before a possible step up.

Williams, using his frame well, was involved in two goals against Celta and nearly added a third with a centre forward’s turn, the position in which he first emerged from Lezama.

He says the coach’s closeness is helping him rediscover form after a difficult year, noting that first-time fatherhood was not easy and that he values Terzic’s trust.

Williams added that in pre-season Terzic asked every player where they felt most comfortable. He described the system as new, crowded with ball-players inside, and said running into space suits him, so he aims to make the most of minutes as a number nine and when playing more centrally.

This Saturday against Atlético at San Mamés is the next chapter in his repositioning, the fourth league fixture of the campaign.
