West Ham United want to sign Athletic Club left-back Adama Boiro before today’s transfer deadline, according to ExWHUEmployee.

West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo wants to bring a replacement for El Hadji Malick Diouf to the London Stadium club.

The Hammers have been linked with AS Roma left-back Anass Salah-Eddine, with a season-long loan mooted.

However, ExWHUEmployee claims Boiro is West Ham’s first-choice to replace Diouf, with the likes of Salah-Eddine part of the contingency plans.

“We can exclusively reveal that despite rumours of other left-backs coming to the clubs these are back up options,” the Hammers insider posted on the West Ham Way Patreon.

“The main target is Adama Boiro, a left-back from Atletico Bilbao. The move will be a loan with an option of signing. The Senegalese player will replace departing Senegalese left back Diouf.

“The player has lived in Spain since he was four and is obviously fluent in the language. The club hope to move quick to secure his signature and we will update you when we have more. There are other back up options should this move fail.”

The 6ft 24-year-old is a strong full-back, with winning aerial duels and ball interceptions his major strengths.

Boiro has played over 40 games across all competitions for Bilbao since the start of 2024-25, and he has what it takes to impress in the Championship.

West Ham could do with such a player in their attempt to replace Diouf.

They have only 20-year-old Ollie Scarles and 19-year-old Ezra Mayers as recongised left-back options, and Boiro will be an upgrade on the duo.
