Independiente del Valle will be without top scorer Charli González for Thursday’s Copa Libertadores quarter-final second leg against Flamengo at the Maracanã.
According to Globo.com, the centre-forward has a muscle injury and is expected to be sidelined for around three weeks, so he did not travel to Rio.
González was withdrawn at half-time in the first leg in Quito. Djorkaeff Reasco is set to lead the line in his absence.
The striker has 16 goals this year, including seven in the Libertadores.
The Ecuadorian side arrived in Rio in the early hours of Wednesday and will train at Fluminense’s CT Carlos Castilho before the match.
Del Valle must win by two goals to take the tie to penalties, and by a bigger margin to progress. Flamengo can lose by up to one goal and still reach the semi-finals.
Probable line-up: Aldair Quintana, Daykol Romero, Carabajal, Schunke, Layan Loor, Alcivar, Hugo Quintana, Sornoza, Arón Rodríguez, Emerson Pata and Djorkaeff Reasco.
