Nice are being linked with a loan move for out-of-favour Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte.
The Uruguay international has endured a difficult time at Manchester United since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain for a fee of around £51m in 2024.
This season, Ugarte has started just twice in the Premier League and is keen for more minutes ahead of next summer’s World Cup. Galatasaray have been linked, while Nice have now joined the race, according to French outlet Jeunes Footeux.
The Ligue 1 outfit are owned by Manchester United co-owners Ineos, which could aid their pursuit of the 24-year-old. Nice are 13th in French football and keen to bolster their squad in the January transfer window.
Manchester United’s stance on Ugarte is likely to hinge on their own business. The Red Devils are keen to reinforce in central midfield, with Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, and Al-Hilal star Ruben Neves on their radar. However, it remains to be seen whether funds are available in January after a spend in excess of £200m in the summer.
