Manchester United have received a major injury boost ahead of their Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday.

Matthijs de Ligt is expected to be fit for the Wolves game after missing Thursday’s home clash with West Ham United due to injury.

The 26-year-old wasn’t part of United’s squad against the Hammers after Ruben Amorim revealed that two players were doubts for the home fixture in his pre-match press conference.

Young centreback Ayden Heaven took the Dutchman’s place in the team, but the teenager endured a nervy outing and was booked for a rash sliding tackle.

CentreDevils now claim that De Ligt’s injury is seen as ‘minor’ and he could be back in training as soon as this week.

The Netherlands international has been a key member of Amorim’s first-team this season, featuring in 13 Premier League matches and scoring a goal.

He has averaged an impressive 5.2 clearances, 1.5 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 3.1 ball recoveries per game in the English top-flight.

De Ligt is a top defender who is highly rated for his physicality, leadership and aggression.

He is strong in the tackle, excellent at winning duels and a commanding presence in the air.

De Ligt has been a regular starter since joining United from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2024.

He has made 56 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils, with three goals to his name.
