More than two months after its original date and following a red weather alert for heavy rain, Levante against Villarreal finally completed LaLiga EA Sports matchday 16 at the Ciutat de València on 18 February 2026. The fixture had been slated for 14 December 2025.
El Periódico Mediterráneo reports that, despite a midweek slot, Villarreal were backed by around 500 travelling groguets. Dani Parejo, ruled out, attended in civilian clothes to support the squad.
LaLiga noted the Villarreal team bus arrived roughly 15 minutes late. The league, chaired by Javier Tebas, fines for each minute if teams fail to be at the stadium 90 minutes before kick-off.
Both clubs marked International Asperger Syndrome Day. Carles, from Levante EDI, and Víctor, from the Submarino’s EDI, placed the match ball on the plinth on the pitch.
This Thursday, 19 February 2026, supporters have been invited to a blood donation drive at the stadium via Gate 34. It runs from 10.00 to 13.00 and from 16.30 to 21.00. Each donor will receive two tickets for Villarreal B against Real Murcia on 1 March at 20.30 at the Mini Estadi, and entry into a draw for two pairs for Villarreal against Valencia and for two signed shirts.
Elsewhere, this week’s Tiempo de revisión ratified the refereeing and VAR decisions in Georges Mikautadze’s 2-1 in Getafe and in Espanyol’s disallowed goal in Vila-real, which would have made it 0-1.
