Second straight Champions League win for Inter: the first home match of this League Phase gifts the San Siro fans a fine 3-0 victory over Slavia Praha. The game was never in doubt, controlled by Inter with great authority. After half an hour spent pressuring the opponent’s deep defensive line, Inter broke the deadlock thanks to a mistake in the build-up: goalkeeper Stanek misplayed his touch and Lautaro, pressing high, slotted into the empty net for 1-0. Just four minutes later came a sweeping move for 2-0: Thuram flew down the left and set up Dumfries, who got out in front to tuck it home.
In the second half, Inter continued to dictate the tempo and added a third through Lautaro once again: a backheel from Thuram released Bastoni, who delivered a perfect assist for the captain to make it 3-0 in the 65th minute. Chivu’s side gave Slavia nothing, and even pushed for a fourth goal that never came.
Inter’s Champions League campaign resumes away to Union SG on 21 October.
