Inter Milan completed a domestic double after beating Lazio 2-0 in the Coppa Italia final at the Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday night, adding the cup to their Serie A title.
The result sealed a 10th Coppa Italia triumph for the Nerazzurri and ensured they became the first Italian club since Juventus in 2017/18 to win both major domestic trophies in the same season.
Inter made the breakthrough early on when Federico Dimarco’s corner created chaos inside the Lazio area, with the ball ultimately deflecting in off Adam Marusic for an own goal.
They doubled their lead before the interval after a costly error from Nuno Tavares, who was dispossessed by Denzel Dumfries. The Dutch wing-back reacted quickly to square the ball for Lautaro Martínez, who had the simple task of tapping into an empty net.
Lazio, who struggled to build momentum in the first half, showed more intent after the break and came close through Tijjani Noslin and Boulaye Dia, but they were denied by a composed Inter defence and goalkeeper Josep Martínez.
Cristian Chivu’s side finish the season with silverware secured on two fronts, underlining their dominance in Italian football.
