Inter are increasingly likely to promote Josep Martinez to first-choice goalkeeper for 2026-27, with Yann Sommer expected to leave when his contract expires in June.
According to Calciomercato.com, Lazio’s Ivan Provedel is currently viewed as the leading candidate to become the new no.2, with the Nerazzurri focusing on a back-up rather than a fresh no.1 signing.
Inter had long been linked with Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario during the 2025-26 season, but the latest indications point towards internal promotion. Martinez has largely served as understudy across the last two campaigns.
Provedel, 32, has spent the last four seasons at the Stadio Olimpico and was named Serie A’s best goalkeeper in 2022-23.
He has missed the last 10 league rounds after shoulder surgery in early March. With just over a year left on his contract, and Edoardo Motta getting a run in the side, Lazio could consider a sale to secure a fee.
