Inter’s Champions League campaign comes to an end: the Nerazzurri, already beaten 3-1 in the first leg in Norway, fall again to Bodø/Glimt. It ended 2-1 at San Siro, with the visitors scoring their goals in the second half after Inter’s long spell of pressure produced countless chances that went unconverted. Chivu’s side are eliminated in the Champions League playoffs, unable to complete the comeback, despite pushing from the first minute in an attempt to break down Bodø’s organisation and defensive solidity. By the final whistle, Inter had registered 30 attempts on goal against Haikin.
The breakthrough for the visitors came in the second half: after a mistake from Akanji at the back, Blomberg struck and was denied by Sommer. From the rebound, Hauge scored to silence San Siro. Inter responded by pushing forward again, hitting the post through Akanji, but then conceded a second as Evjen made it 2-0 in the 72nd minute. A double blow. Bastoni’s goal in the 76th minute gave Inter renewed hope and lifted both the team and the fans, but they could not find another. In the closing stages, Dumfries returned to action and was applauded by the Inter fans. Inter are back in action against Genoa on Saturday at 20:45 at San Siro, for matchday 27 of Serie A.
