Inter risk having to face two big rivals without one of their main weapons, as Marcus Thuram injured his left thigh during the recent Champions League triumph over Slavia Praha. He could be sidelined for up to a month, La Gazzetta dello Sport relays.

Initial reports suggested the striker suffered a left biceps strain. The Nerazzurri only announced a problem in the area without specifying its full extent. The marksman would be re-evaluated next week. Another statement could follow suit.

Thuram will surely skip the upcoming tilt versus Cremonese and international duties. He will be a close call for the clashes against Roma, Union Sait-Gilloise, and Napoli after the break. Despite the crunch matches on the horizon, the staff will be cautious to avoid a relapse.

The Nerazzurri will turn to their new youngsters in relief, Ange-Yoan Bonny, who joined from Parma for €23M primarily to deputize his fellow compatriot, and Francesco Pio Esposito, who recently bagged his maiden goal versus Cagliari. The former is currently considered the frontrunner to partner with Lautaro Martinez in the next fixture.

Thuram got off to a fast start, scoring five goals and providing two assists in the first nine matches, willing Inter to victory in the meetings with Torino and Ajax. He made the XI in every tilt so far. He got hurt while starting the action that led to the game-sealing goal midweek with a back-heel flick.

The 28-year-old sat out for two weeks the last time he picked up a muscular injury, an adductor one in April, skipping the matches versus Bologna, Milan, and Roma, all of which resulted in costly losses. However, won’t be rushed back this early in the season.
