Inter Miami won the MLS Cup against the Vancouver Whitecaps by a 3-1 score.
An incredible moment to be a Heron’s fan.
With a quick goal, Miami broke the tie. However, after that first goal, the Herons struggled to defend against the Caps’ offense.
In fact, they hit three posts in the same play, keeping Miami alive in the match. Lionel Messi played a great first half, but then, the Caps' defense didn’t give him space to create plays, and Miami felt that.
Despite that inconvenience, that is in the past. Inter Miami lifted its first MLS Cup trophy, and everyone is happy, or are they?
In the last couple of days, there have been rumours linking Tadeo Allende with a possible departure to River Plate. This is a hit for the Herons’ fans because Allende started to win everyone's hearts.
According to the journalist Germán García Grova, Tadeo Allende has been offered to River Plate by Celta de Vigo (the team that owns the player’s rights), with his loan at Inter Miami set to expire. Marcelo Gallardo, River Plate’s coach, approved the signing of the footballer.
The mentioned journalist also stated that Miami initiated talks with the Spanish club to retain Allende in the squad.
This is a hard punch of reality for Inter Miami as they lose their most decisive striker. During the postseason, Allende scored nine goals, surpassing Carlos Ruiz’s previous record of eight goals set in 2002 and becoming the top scorer in MLS postseason history.
It’s true, the former Godoy Cruz had a rough start. He missed plenty of opportunities to score goals that would have helped Miami win another Supporters’ Shield, maybe, but one thing is undeniable: he appeared in the crucial moments of the season.
And that is the main thing Javier Mascherano will miss. A player who, when Messi is struggling to score, puts on the clothes and helps the squad. Also, Allende is a young player with great projection for the MLS.
It would be silly for the Más brothers and David Beckham not to try to retain him for a few more years. Tadeo Allende could be the future of Miami alongside Silvetti, Bright, and Fray.
