More than a week after his outburst in which he spat on a Seattle Sounders assistant, Luis Suárez now knows his fate.

Although he was already handed a six-match suspension by Leagues Cup last Friday, Luis Suárez has seen MLS further extend his punishment. The Uruguayan striker has received an additional three-match ban for instigating a fight and spitting on an opponent after the Cup final against the Seattle Sounders at the end of August. As a result, he will miss the upcoming regular season games against Charlotte, Seattle, and DC United.

Steven Lenhart, assistant coach of the Seattle Sounders, has been penalized even more severely. MLS has revoked his accreditation for the remainder of the season, banning him from the pitch, locker rooms, and any proximity to the team, after he had already been given a five-match suspension. His club has also been fined for accreditation misuse.
