Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has won Serie A’s Iliad Goal of the Month award for August and September, recognising his sixth-minute strike against Monza in the Nerazzurri’s league opener.
FCInterNews reported the award on Wednesday, September 30, after Calhanoglu’s long-range effort topped a fan poll on Lega Serie A’s official social channels. The strike came on August 22, in the match that opened Inter’s 2026-27 Serie A campaign.
The Turkish midfielder’s goal beat Rolando Mandragora’s long-range effort for Fiorentina in a 2-1 defeat to Torino. The poll therefore put two strikes from distance against each other, with Calhanoglu earning more votes from supporters.
The award recognises the goal from the opening stages of Inter’s meeting with Monza. Calhanoglu found the net in the sixth minute, giving his effort a prominent place in the first match of the Nerazzurri’s league season.
Serie A’s August-September award covered goals from the opening weeks of the campaign. Calhanoglu’s finish emerged ahead of Mandragora’s effort in the fan vote, with the result announced by FCInterNews on September 30.
For Inter, the recognition is specific to one moment: a powerful strike from distance against Monza, scored shortly after the season began. The result of the poll confirms that it was the most-voted goal in the award’s August-September selection.
