Inter Milan star Marcus Thuram is reluctant to let last night’s Derby della Madonnina heartache dampen his morale.

Speaking to CBS Sports via FCInterNews, the French striker hailed Inter’s performance in Sunday’s narrow 1-0 defeat.

Christian Pulisic’s second-half tap-in settled a dramatic contest at San Siro, ending Inter’s three-game winning run in Serie A.

Furthermore, the Nerazzurri have now failed to beat AC Milan in six consecutive meetings across all competitions.

More importantly, Cristian Chivu’s men have tumbled to fourth in the standings, falling three points behind pacesetters Roma.

However, it’s worth noting that Inter wasted a penalty, as Mike Maignan denied Hakan Calhanoglu in the 74th minute.

In addition, the French goalkeeper made several more crucial saves.

Maignan’s phenomenal performance resulted in Inter’s first scoring blank in Serie A under Chivu.

Meanwhile, Thuram impressed with his work rate and movement, constantly probing Milan’s defense.

Unfortunately, Maignan thwarted his diving header in the fourth minute with a stunning save.

Asked about his feelings after the game, Thuram replied: “They’re definitely not good.

“Even though we played a solid game, we were up against one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

“He made some fantastic saves. We did everything possible to win; that’s football.

“We have to keep going in this direction because the season is still long.”

Then, Thuram addressed his performance in his first Serie A start since mid-September.

“I couldn’t push as much as I would have liked, but that’s normal. I still felt good, I think it’s natural.

“Like the rest of the team, I need to keep working and stay focused.”

Moreover, Thuram also commented on Inter’s disappointing results in Serie A derby matches.

“It’s always the small details that make the difference. I’m happy with what we showed on the pitch, but not with the results.

“We won against Roma, another tough match. We have to keep working; the season is still long.”

However, he doesn’t think Inter need to change anything ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid.

“I don’t think everything needs to change. We have to keep doing what the coach asks.

“We need to work better to do things better, but no revolutions are needed.
