Italian journalist Riccardo Trevisani slammed Inter Milan goalkeeper Yann Sommer after last night’s Derby della Madonnina defeat.

Speaking to Pressing via FCInterNews, Trevisani delivered a brutal verdict on the veteran’s display.

Yann Sommer fell short of expectations in Inter’s heartbreaking 1-0 defeat to bitter rivals AC Milan.

Indeed, his poor reaction to Alexis Saelemaekers’ shot enabled Christian Pulisic to find the winning goal.

However, it’s also worth mentioning that Manuel Akanji lost sight of the USMNT forward, who tapped the rebound into an empty net.

Yet, Sommer came under heavy scrutiny again despite his return to form following a dismal showing against Juventus.

Meanwhile, Milan star Mike Maignan showed his Inter counterpart how it’s done.

The French shot-stopper earned a flattering ‘Man of the Match’ award for a remarkable performance in the derby.

For perspective, his superb save to deny Hakan Calhanoglu from the spot helped Milan claim the city’s bragging rights.

“Milan have a great goalkeeper; Inter don’t have a goalkeeper,” Trevisani stated.

Furthermore, the Italian journalist backed the Rossoneri to challenge Inter for the Scudetto.

“The advantage of not having European competitions is enormous,” he added. “They always do well in head-to-head clashes.

“They need to learn how to handle games better against teams that sit deep, because against those sides, they usually do well.”

Meanwhile, he commented on Inter’s dependence on their midfield trio.

“Inter depend heavily on their three midfielders,” he continued. “Sucic had a poor first half, Calhanoglu had a bad game, Barella was so-so.

“On the right, Carlos Augusto was playing out of position.

“In this context, with Lautaro also clearly not at his best, Inter could still have scored three goals.

“Lautaro scored 24 goals in a league season two years ago. Now he’s on 16 in a league season and a third.

“There’s no comparison. After the international break, Chivu took him off after an hour against Juventus, against Roma, and now again this time.”
