Following Inter Milan’s 0-1 loss to Liverpool, iconic manager Fabio Capello condemned Felix Zwayer over a scandalous penalty decision.

Commenting on the incident via FCInterNews, Capello blasted the German referee for awarding Liverpool a late win.

Indeed, Zwayer’s contentious call awarded the Reds more than just a penalty.

With less than two minutes left on the clock, it was a game-defining decision.

Unfortunately for Inter, Dominik Szoboszlai gave Yann Sommer no chance from the spot.

However, whether Alessandro Bastoni’s contact with Florian Wirtz was intense enough to warrant a spot-kick remains doubtful.

In fact, it’s hard to agree with Zwayer’s call.

Furthermore, it’s fair to say that Cristian Chivu’s side fell victim to another poor refereeing once again this season.

Similar issues resulted in heartbreaking defeats at the hands of Napoli and Juventus in Serie A.

The game would’ve probably ended goalless had it not been for Zwayer’s intervention in the final moments.

Zwayer’s decision left Capello bamboozled.

“A scandalous penalty,” the 80-year-old was adamant. “I don’t understand the VAR intervention.

“There was also a dive by the player who threw himself to the ground in absurd theatrics.

“VAR took three minutes to spot an obvious handball in the first half, and here they summon the referee for a foul you see on every corner.

“Everyone holds someone, and by that logic, every corner would be a penalty.

“It sets a precedent, and it’s a disgrace to award a penalty like this.”

Left to lick their wounds after another controversial loss, Inter must recover quickly as they take on Genoa next weekend.
