Carlos Augusto delivered a defiant message after Inter Milan’s 2-0 victory over Genoa, insisting the Nerazzurri are ready to silence the doubters who are waiting for them to lose momentum following their Champions League elimination.
The Brazil defender started in place of the suspended Bastoni and put in a solid display as Inter bounced back impressively from the Bodo/Glimt defeat.
Speaking to Inter TV at full time, with quotes via FCInterNews, Augusto was in a focused and determined mood, aware of the narrative building around his side but refusing to let it take hold.
“It was an important match, eleven games remain plus the Coppa Italia, and we must continue like this,” he said.
“After games like the one against Bodo, everyone waits to see you drop off. But today that did not happen and we must not let it. We know that defeats like that hurt, but we are a group of players with experience.”

“They have had some difficult moments in previous years, everyone expects a decline from us,” he said.
“But we are ready to give our best in the league and in the Coppa Italia.”
With tonight’s win, Inter go 13 points clear of rivals AC Milan, with the Rossoneri yet to play this weekend.
During the midweek, Inter face Como in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final.
On the subject of the title race, the Brazilian was pragmatic.
“We have to do our part, if we don’t win our games we won’t be up there. We obviously watch the other results, but in the end we know we have to focus on ourselves.”
