Inter Milan coach Cristian Chivu revealed the nature of the injury suffered by Marcus Thuram during tonight’s clash against Slavia Prague.

Speaking to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, the 44-year-old eased fans’ nerves by confirming it was nothing more than cramps.

However, the Frenchman enjoyed a great match despite failing to get on the scoresheet.

Indeed, he picked up an assist in the first half, setting up Denzel Dumfries for the second goal.

Then, he played his part in Lautaro Martinez’s second goal, playing Alessandro Bastoni through with a cheeky backheel pass.

Unfortunately, a late injury scare overshadowed the 28-year-old’s impressive performance.

Luckily for Inter, Thuram will likely be ready for the upcoming Serie A clash against Cremonese at San Siro.

Yet, Cristian Chivu may decide to rest the star striker this weekend as a precaution.

“He says it’s just a cramp,” Chivu replied when asked about Thuram’s fitness condition. “He’ll have checks tomorrow. Hopefully, it’s nothing serious.”

Then, he hailed Inter’s improvement compared to the start of the season.

“It’s always a fine line,” Chivu added. “Winning feels good, losing feels bad. You need balance.

“The players have always tried to be proactive and enjoy themselves, maintaining the right passion without losing focus or discipline.

“They’re growing, and their behavior has always been correct.”

Furthermore, he explained his decision to make numerous changes to his starting lineup tonight.

“There were only 72 hours between matches,” Chivu claimed. “I wanted to give minutes to players who have been working well while resting others.

“I’m happy to give Bisseck and Zielinski playing time and to rest players who have played a lot recently.

We also need to consider Saturday’s match and the upcoming national team duties.

“I’m not disappointed with what they’re doing. Perfection doesn’t exist, but I see great effort in adapting to new tasks.
