According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter Milan’s 4-1 victory over Cremonese was the clearest sign yet of the tactical revolution under Cristian Chivu taking hold.

“Inter is back and it’s different,” the paper wrote, via FCInterNews, noting how the Nerazzurri have left behind their old over-complicated patterns.

Instead Chivu has opted for a direct, aggressive brand of football that has made them Serie A’s top attack with 17 goals in six matches.

Leading the charge was Ange-Yoan Bonny, who delivered three assists and a goal on his first start.

It was “a remarkable stage presence,” as described by La Gazzetta.

The match also reignited discussion over Chivu’s midfield shape.

The opening goal, created by Barella’s interception and quick pass to Bonny, raised a tactical question.

Would the same goal have been scored with Calhanoglu as regista?

The newspaper suggested that Barella may be a better fit for Chivu’s faster, vertical approach.

“He has less technical quality and control of the foot” the paper argued.

“But Chivu requires speed of thought and distribution and in this respect, Barella is the best fit.”

After Lautaro’s early strike, Dimarco and Barella added goals in the second half, both assisted by Bonny.

Chivu’s side dominated throughout, showing intensity in pressing and fluid attacking patterns rarely seen last season.

However, a late lapse from Diouf, who lost possession in the buildup to Bonazzoli’s consolation goal, prevented a clean sheet.

But for Chivu, the performance confirmed that his Inter are not just back but evolving.
