Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is not underestimating tomorrow’s Champions League opposition Red Star Belgrade.

The Nerazzurri spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, ahead of tomorrow’s match.

Inter play their second match of the season in the Champions League tomorrow.

And on paper, it will be a lot less tough than the Nerazzurri’s first match in the campaign.

Early this month, Inter faced Premier League juggernauts Manchester City. They took a precious point back to Milan after a hard-fought draw away to the Cityzens.

This time around, Inter will be playing at home in front of their fans.

And Red Star are hardly a team at the level of City. At least on paper.

But of course, Inter are not going to be playing tomorrow’s match on paper.

This Red Star team will be confident, having won eight of their nine matches in the Serbian SuperLiga so far this season.

Moreover, the Serbian team produced an impressive display against Benfica in their own Champions League opener.

Red Star lost that match. However, they pushed the Portuguese giants all the way and were perhaps unfortunate not to get a result from the match.

Inter Coach Inzaghi: “Red Star Are A Team In Good Form”

“As we’ve already seen in Europe in their matches against Bodo/Glimt and Benfica, Red Star are a team in good form,” said Inzaghi of Inter’s opposition tomorrow.

“In the league, out of nine matches they’ve had eight wins and one draw,” he noted.

“So over the last day and a half we’ve tried to study them and prepare for them well.”

“And then clearly as we know, all European matches are difficult,” Inzaghi made clear.

“Tomorrow we’ll have to stay very switched-on.”

Of playing so many matches close together, Inter coach Inzaghi said that “We’re used to having to play every three days.”

“But that’s where we need to do well,” the Nerazzurri coach continued.

“We need to find the consistency that we’ve lacked so far. But we’re working hard so that it comes as soon as possible.”

As far as Inter’s subpar defensive record so far this season, Inzaghi insisted that “It’s not a problem of the defenders.”

“It’s a problem of the whole team,” the coach made clear.

“At the moment, whenever the opposition get into our penalty area, they seem to score a goal against us,” Inzaghi lamented.

“We know that matches are tough in Italy, as they are in Europe,” the Inter coach said.

“We have to keep our focus high and work as a team. As we have done in the last few years.
