Inter could celebrate a landmark Coppa Italia triumph this season, but a commemorative patch remains unlikely despite recent speculation.

The Nerazzurri face Lazio in the final on May 13, with the chance to lift their tenth title in the competition. That milestone would make Inter only the second club in Italian history to reach double figures, following Juventus.

Reports from Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, have suggested the idea of introducing a special patch to mark the occasion.

However, there is no formal regulation allowing for a “silver star” or similar symbol to commemorate ten Coppa Italia wins. Neither competition rules nor Lega Serie A or FIGC guidelines provide for such recognition.

A comparison is often drawn with the gold star worn for every ten Serie A titles.

Yet even that tradition is not rooted in standard regulations, but rather in a Federal Council decision in 1958, when Juventus first reached the milestone. Inter and Milan later followed suit after hitting ten league titles themselves.

No equivalent directive exists for the Coppa Italia. Any such addition would require a specific request and approval process.

Crucially, precedent also works against the idea. Juventus did not pursue a commemorative symbol after their own tenth Coppa Italia success in 2015. At the time, Beppe Marotta was part of the club’s leadership – the same Marotta who now serves as Inter president.

Given both the lack of regulatory backing and Marotta’s previous stance, Inter introducing a special patch appears improbable, even if they secure a historic tenth Coppa Italia.
