Inter Milan long-term absentee Denzel Dumfries offered an encouraging fitness update during his latest interview.
Speaking to NOS via FCInterNews, the Dutch wingback confirmed that he is on the verge of recovery.
Denzel Dumfries suffered a nasty ankle injury during Inter’s 2-0 home triumph over Lazio at the start of November.
Furthermore, the 29-year-old had to undergo surgery in December.
Though Inter had initially expected the former PSV Eindhoven star to recover only in March, Dumfries could soon return to the pitch.
Indeed, he has already started training with the ball.
However, Saturday’s home clash against Juventus will come too soon for the Netherlands international.
Still, manager Cristian Chivu can expect to see his starting wingback back in action by the end of February.

“I’m in the final stages, so I hope to return as soon as possible,” Dumfries said.
“It’s just a matter of weeks, even though there’s no exact date yet. But I’m already training on the pitch and with the ball.
“I’m really starting to feel the urge to play again.”
Furthermore, Dumfries reiterated his ambition to feature for the Netherlands at the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
“The Club World Cup? I’ll definitely be there,” he confirmed. “I’m not worried about that at all.”
With Dumfries injured, Chivu is likely to continue relying on Luis Henrique, who scored his first goal for the club last weekend.
Indeed, the Brazilian winger seems to be finally finding his footing at San Siro following an underwhelming start.
Meanwhile, this could prove to be Dumfries’ last season in Serie A.
A €25 million release clause will come into effect in July, potentially attracting interest from foreign clubs.
Therefore, Inter are already scouring the market for potential replacements, with Marco Palestra emerging as the club’s top target.
