Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries says that he’s “happy” with his start to the season after helping the team to a 1-0 win over RB Leipzig.
The Dutchman spoke to InterTV, via FCInterNews, after the victory. He talked about his start to the campaign.
Inter wingback Dumfries started in this evening’s Champions League win over Leipzig.
The 28-year-old has not always been in the Nerazzurri starting eleven at the start of this season.
Dumfries has had to vie with veteran former Manchester United and Torino wingback Matteo Darmian for a spot in the starting eleven.
Moreover, there have reportedly been one or two physical problems for Dumfries to deal with.
But when Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has called up Dumfries, the former PSV wingback has certainly always given his all.
That was the case this evening against Leipzig. Dumfries put in a real shift up and down the right flank as always.
The Dutchman had a great chance early in the second half of the match, which he was unable to score from.
But particularly in his defensive display, Dumfries hardly put a foot wrong.
Inter wingback Dumfries said that “I’m happy because I’m back after a bad injury.”
“I’m feeling good,” the Dutchman said.
“I want to grow every day,” he added. “And I’m happy with my start to the season.”
Dumfries said that the win over Leipzig “was a good evening.”
“It’s the first time we’ve gone five consecutive matches without conceding a goal,” the Dutchman noted.
“We had to suffer a bit because we only won 1-0. But I’m happy.”
“I missed a good chance as well,” Dumfries noted. “But that’s the way that football is.”
“The most important thing is getting the win,” he added.
