Inter Milan vice-president Javier Zanetti delivered his verdict on the San Siro project and shared his hopes for the future.
Speaking to Sky Sports UK via FCInterNews, Zanetti shared his thoughts about the club’s intention to build a state-of-the-art stadium.
AC Milan and Inter have embarked on their new stadium project after acquiring the land from the city.
Indeed, a brand-new stadium forms a key pillar of Oaktree’s long-term vision for the Nerazzurri.
Therefore, the clubs have earmarked substantial funds to finance this history-defining development.
Both teams are aiming to create a modern arena that will serve as a cornerstone for generations to come.
Meanwhile, renowned British architect Norman Foster will be in charge of construction, with the new stadium expected to open in 2031.
As such, there’s a good probability that San Siro will be among the venues to host the UEFA Euro 2032.

“The Meazza will always be a stadium that brings back memories. And it has brought many victories,” Javier Zanetti said.
“Everything has changed,” he added. “I believe that a top club like Inter, known worldwide, needs a new, state-of-the-art stadium.
“The important thing is that it’s always at San Siro. I hope we’ll be able to create special memories there as well.”
Finally, Zanetti named his most memorable game in the Nerazzurri shirt.
“My debut game,” he claimed. “I could never have imagined it would be the first of 858 matches.”
Zanetti spent his entire professional career in Europe at Inter. Indeed, he joined the club in 1995 and stayed here until 2014.
Upon retirement, the Nerazzurri retired his No.4 jersey, paying tribute to one of the most iconic figures in club history.
However, Zanetti couldn’t stay away from his beloved Inter, returning to the club in a different capacity shortly after hanging up his boots.
