The first clear trend is emerging in the transfer poker surrounding FC Bayern’s Leon Goretzka: a club that has recently been touted as a candidate is probably not interested
According to information from The Athletic, Spurs are currently not interested in signing the midfielder
This is a relevant development for FC Bayern, as Tottenham have been repeatedly touted as a potential buyer for the 30-year-old in recent weeks. This scenario has now apparently come to an end. Goretzka himself only has a six-month contract in Munich and, according to the report, is clearly focusing on the second half of the season at the record champions
Regardless of this, Goretzka’s situation at Säbener Straße remains unresolved. The midfielder’s contract expires in the summer and no concrete talks about an extension are known to date. In sporting terms, the hierarchy in Bayern’s midfield has shifted: Joshua Kimmich is set, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Tom Bischof are seen as future building blocks. For Goretzka, this means a significantly reduced perspective
Accordingly, numerous international clubs have recently emerged as potential suitors. Clubs from Italy, Spain and Turkey have been mentioned, as have Atlético Madrid. Even Real Madrid are said to be keeping a close eye on the situation, particularly in view of Goretzka’s experience and the possibility of a transfer on a free transfer

The fact that Tottenham are now apparently no longer an option reduces the list, but does not end the speculation. Goretzka is one of the top earners at FC Bayern, which represents a hurdle for some interested parties. The situation is likely to become even more acute by the summer. A winter transfer of Goretzka is probably rather unlikely.
