Interesting choice of words: Real leaves the door open for an Olise offer

Real Madrid is deliberately leaving the door open in the Michael Olise case. A new statement from the club shows that, unlike with another player, the Madrid side isn’t ruling out future negotiations regarding the Bayern star.

Ironically, the trigger for this new debate is a denial that didn’t even concern Olise. Real Madrid clearly rejected any alleged interest in Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández. Here, too—as in the Olise case—there was an official statement from the club. It reads: “The club wishes to clarify that it has not attempted, either directly or indirectly, to sign the player in question, nor does it have any intention of doing so.” A clear rejection—Fernández is therefore not on the table, nor is he expected to be.

For Bayern fans, the matter becomes interesting when directly compared to Real’s statement regarding Olise. Two weeks ago, the Madrid club had issued a statement about Olise. It read: “In response to reports in various media outlets regarding our club’s alleged interest in Bayern Munich player Michael Olise, Real Madrid CF would like to clarify that it has had no contact—either direct or indirect—with the player in question, his representatives, or anyone associated with him.”

The subtle difference in the Olise statement

The difference is small but crucial: In Fernández’s case, Real explicitly rules out a signing. In Olise’s case, the denial refers only to the lack of contact so far—future negotiations are not ruled out at this time. Whether this is a coincidence or a calculated move remains to be seen. In any case, this leaves the door open for a potential offer from Real Madrid for Olise.

According to reports, the Blancos could be prepared to put more than 220 million euros on the table for the 24-year-old.

At Säbener Straße, however, the situation is clear: Germany’s record champion wants to extend its superstar’s contract. Olise himself intends to first discuss his future with Munich officials after the World Cup.
